I finally got around to playing Quantum Break earlier... I got to the end of Act 1 before having to put it down. It's like that game exists just solely to have a vengeance against me in particular
It feels like Remedy had an interesting idea for a time travel story, and then Microsoft—their publisher—ran it through the Dark and Gritty Guns and Shootouts Filter without consulting them beforehand

It looks and feels and plays like a generic action movie from the 2010s, which means that all of my kintypes will, yet again, conveniently fall into place as characters who exist for the sole purpose of being an Enemy to be Killed. I get why this is the case, but it just feels horribly unfortunate

it's like that game exists just solely to have a vengeance... Like, why does the game feel the need to take control after an enemy encounter just to show me an epic slow-motion view of the last enemy getting shot dead? The game does this every time, even if there’s, like, two enemies in a group.

It’s still so funny to me though that every single character uses Windows Phone. Like, Apple doesn’t allow villains to use their devices, but Microsoft were probably like “we’re funding this, put Microsoft products absolutely everywhere.” It’s definitely one of the (if not, the) worst-aged parts of the game

I did the, like, 727 WYSI pose after getting to the point where you meet Beth Wilder for the first time – she’s the same actor as Jesse Faden from Control, so I’m practically pointing at the screen going “That’s Courtney Hope!!”

"Close-up view of Paul Serene from Quantum Break. A man with blue eyes, white skin and grey hair stares into the camera." This one shot of Paul Serene is so funny he’s framed like Saul Goodman 3D

I put the game down after the first act and ended up feeling like shit for a few hours after that, and, in retrospect, I really don’t know what I should’ve expected to happen

It’s essentially Everything I Hate boiled down into one game, “Kintype Murder Simulator 2016.” I was really hoping it’d just buff out, but it never really did.
